II.  Generality

22.   Name of the Association
China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association

23.   Character of the Association
The Association shall consist of the Owners who voluntarily enter ships  into the Association for insurance, whether in the name of the Owners or by way of reinsurance, and the insurers reinsured by the Association,where they are accepted as the Members of the Association. The Association is a non-profit making shipowners mutual assurance association.

24.  Purpose of the Association
The Association shall uphold and protect the prestige and the interests of its Members in accordance the laws, rules and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the relevant international laws and regulations.

25.   Business scope of the Association
The Association shall afford mutual marine insurance (including but not limited to the insurance against Protection & Indemnity Risks, Freight, Demurrage & Defence Risks and Hull & Machinery Risks) to its Members in accordance with the Rules and the terms and conditions of the contracts concluded between the Member and the Association and offer professional services to its Members.

26. The Association shall take up the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of Communication and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
